How Does It Work

A heat pump is a highly efficient, cost effective method of heating water. It utilizes the sun’s free energy by extracting heat from the sun-warmed air and transferring it efficiently to the water. Because the heat pump moves the free heat from the outside air to the water, rather than create heat, as a fossil fuel or electric resistance heater does, it can heat your geyser water for up to 70% less cost than other less efficient methods. As the ambient temperatures changes, the heating output of a heat pump will vary. However, even when temperatures are cooler the heat pump continues to transfer heat between air and water. SIRAC heat pumps are designed to operate between -5°c and 40°c ambient temperature.

  • Designed to meet with European energy standards. The evaporator coils are designed to operate down to ‐20°C ambient temperatures. This makes the unit extremely efficient when operated in the South African mild climate.
  • Automatic hot gas defrost controlled by intelligent control system – not timer based.
  • A flow confirmation switch is provided for field operation.

COMPRESSOR

The heart of the Heat Pump is the Emerson Copeland Scroll Compressor. These compressors have been developed specifically for heat pump applications.

ELECTRONIC EXPANSION VALVE

The use of the Electronic expansion valve (EEV) shifts the SIRAC products to a whole new level. The EEV increases the efficiency, reliability and performance. In the world of heat pumps, the EEV is the greatest advancement since the Scroll Compressor.

TUBE IN TUBE HEAT EXCHANGER

The proprietary SIRAC Coaxial Tube in Tube heat exchanger is made by SIRAC. The special coaxial design provides exceptional heat transfer and reduces tube fouling.

EVAPORATOR COIL

Hydrophilic-coated evaporator fins reduce corrosion and provide excellent heat transfer. Tubes are mechanically bonded to the fins.

MICROPROCESSOR CONTROLS

The SIRAC programmable controller offers accurate temperature control with advanced features that protect and manages the efficient operation of the unit. The controller has a fault diagnostic feature that prevents and reduces service call outs. The unit is provided with a backlit wired remote display for easy access.

REFRIGERANT

Environmentally friendly R417a refrigerant. Refrigerant R417a has been specifically selected for its low operating temperatures and pressures. This has a huge impact in the operating conditions of the compressors.

GAS PRESSURE ACTUATED WATER FLOW CONTROL VALVES

Provide hot water at a constant adjustable leaving temperature.
